After a season of deep growth, it is important that we take the time to sit still, reflect, let the lessons learned really take foundation in our spirit. And yet, we must not linger too long here. This is a pause, not a full stop. Allow the plant spirits in this Four of Cups inspired tea blend to move you into fruitful introspection.

Beltane May Queen Reading

I didn’t have a moment to pause and create a spread for this sabbat like I usually do. In fact most of my day, I spent in a hospital looking after a loved one. It didn’t feel like a very abundant celebration of spring, I have to say. I needed some help.

So here’s a May Queen reading I found because it is Beltane.

IMG_20170502_002747_854

Position 1: Safety. Emotional security. What you need to feel safe. MOVEMENT. Too true. I feel better in a crisis when I have all the information and I’m handling the small details. It helps keep my mind of what’s not happening if I’m making it happen. Of course, this has a downside- sweating the small stuff is all well and good if you don’t miss out on the big picture.

Position 2: Abundance. Feelings of plenty. SELF DOUBT. Gut-punch. Okay, yeah this is about right. I’m not very comfortable when things are going too well. This is definitely a growth opportunity for me, and I can say it’s gotten better. Lately though, I’ve had a bit more trying my life than usual.

Position 3: Regeneration. Exploring the possibilities. RELEASE. Letting things go that I don’t have control over and some things I do has definitely been a useful strategy. It’s easier to see abundance when you’re not trying desperately to hold on to things you can’t keep with you.

Position 4: Love. Emotions and relationships. DEFEAT. We’re working on this, lol! The universe continues to have no chill on this particular topic.

Position 5: The Future. The present conceivable outcome based on the flow of cards one through four. COMMUNICATION. This reads more like manifestation. Working on the way I speak my purpose and what I want will be crucial this season. It’s difficult work, tenuous, and immensely consequential.

All of this being said, abundance is not always easily reached for- in fact, looking for and finding abundance in the middle of a challenge is a form of medicine. Hope is a form of abundance. Prayer is abundance. Bringing all that to bear is claiming abundance.

Happy Beltane, my loves.

New Moon in Taurus Reflections

Blessed New Moon in Taurus everyone!

Which for many folks feels especially wonderful, I’m sure, because Venus is finally direct and letting our feels breathe.

This new moon is a bit harder for me. It’s the first one where I’ve felt nearly altogether depleted- usually new moons give me an extra boost of energy. Not that its magic isn’t as potent, just my life is facing a bit more challenge than usual and my self-care isn’t as on point as I’d like it to be.

I’m adjusting to a family health challenge and to the subsequent role of caregiver. I traveled, so the sanctuary of home is unavailable. Most of my day is spent inside a hospital, which I’ve always been energy-sensitive to and the usual care habits aren’t as accessible in my new day to day.

I’m trying to form a plan for the long-term while I’m in the adjustment period. I’ve got the larger plans in the works but also taking advantages of the little pockets of air that allow for a bit of grounding and comfort- like a tea, blended with hawthorn and holy basil and flower petals to soothe and bolster my heart, that I mixed on impulse five minutes before the five hour drive to the hospital.

A taste of sanctuary.

The usual lunar readings have been harder for me. It’s not as easy to take in broader themed messages appropriate for this moon like love, home, abundance, security, and manifestation when I’m dealing with what feels like such an insurmountable set of circumstances.

Not that it looks like avoiding those themes is possible- case in point my new moon reading. The FOUR OF WANDS, STAR, and MAGICIAN are all about love, home, abundance, security, and manifestation.

So how to bring that energy down here where I am at?

I don’t have a clear answer yet, or rather it’s slowly forming and I can’t quite articulate it yet. It’s my New Moon soul homework for tonight as I spend the night hospital bedside once again.

With all this of course, a few things have been placed on a necessary hold. While I’m away from home, my meditative tarot teas, baths, and talismans will be unavailable as I’m not near my herbs at the moment.

What I am wide open and available for is tarot readings! I’m never far from a deck of cards. I’ve got some time on my hands and I’d like to continue being of service. So go ahead and book a reading for yourself and let’s explore Taurus’ lessons of love, home, abundance, security, and manifestation together. As always, sliding scale is available.

Refined Tarot Reading Offerings in the Shop

I’m always in permanent tinker mode when it comes to my practice. Always trying to figure out how better to serve, present, and create. In my tweak-and-tinker crosshairs over the last week was the readings section of my shop.

It hasn’t changed much- in fact there have really only ever been two major changes. At the outset, I offered readings virtually and the different options were based on timespan. Then I modified the page to specify what kind of reading my client would like with even more options based on particular themes and added email readings and sliding scale. Which was all well and good but it wasn’t really connecting with me anymore.

I worked on the page yesterday, adding options then taking them away, and all it really led me to was what I wanted in the first place anyway. Two easy to understand options that leave space for me to make every reading I do as unique for each client as possible. I also switched to email only for now, with virtual or in-person readings available by request only. I’m also keeping the sliding scale on all my work in the shop. That part’s fundamental to the ethics of my healing practice.

Working it this way takes away any scheduling difficulties and allows me space not just for my other work, but also to take care of other clients in the shop ordering bath, tea, and oil blends. It also reduces confusion and overwhelm for clients visiting the shop (or maybe even trying tarot for the first time) and easily lets everyone know what they’re getting.

So here’s what we got:

Asali Earthwork Tarot & Oracle Readings

energysnapshotThe ENERGY SNAPSHOT is the one for you if you need it served to you straight up no chaser. With this reading we incisively evaluate your query and vision where you are. We look at the elemental concerns of your query, giving light to the mental, emotional, material, and spiritual energy surrounding you in this moment. It’s effective and right to the point.

soul searcherThe SOUL SEARCHER is the one for those moments when you want to go deeper. Your reading is purposefully intricate and designed to be as in-depth as possible, crafted to your particular query and circumstance. Oh, and there will be homework. I always suggest this when receiving your reading, but you will absolutely need tea (or your favored beverage), note-taking tools, and time to reflect.

So come on over y’all. I got all my cards out and ready for you, loves.

#taroteveryday: loving is an act of courage

Venus has gone direct and it has some pretty explicit instructions for me. As told by the results of this check-in spread.

20170416_135836

1. What is the state of my heart space at this time? KNIGHT OF WANDS. I laughed out loud at the sight of this Knight. Proud, irreverent, eyes closed to their surroundings and really anything anyone might say in assist- if it doesn’t vibe with what they think is best. That’s me about this topic. Oh, I’m very open-hearted… but only when I want to be, how I want to be, and where I want to be. Which isn’t a bad thing- it’s served me well and let me take care of myself, but it isn’t always the best move. Especially when literally every single major reading, and now minor everyday readings like this one, are asking me to put the couer in courage and meet love in a new way.

2. What energy needs releasing? EIGHT OF SWORDS.  Around Ostara I received cards with essentially this message– that any perceived restrictions, obstacles, or incapability are an illusion. I’m not powerless in this space, in fact moving from a place of openness, love, and joy is my power.

3. What energy should be invited? ACE OF PENTACLES. Usually the cups suit is all about emotion, but I see my heart in that coin being offered. Pentacles are also about treasure, and my heart full of light and crystals and magic is my greatest treasure. It’s not the end of the world to offer it up and know that what makes it precious is also what protects it, so I’ll be fine.

4. Additional guidance to invite balance and flow? LOVE. Well, yes.

Love is lifeforce.

#taroteveryday: Queen of Wands in affirmation

IMG_20170416_014823_001

A comforting reminder from ancestors that I’m still here, still growing, and I’m coming along nicely even as the wind blows all around. I’d also received this card in reverse from a larger reading given to me today, so this is a lovely affirmation as I end the day.

I’m into this new space I’m creating.

Tea Time Reading #3

How are you making time to come back to yourself?

It’s the little things, yes?

Here’s what I did today: made some hawthorn-hibiscus tea, received a beautiful tarot heartwise reading from a dear cronesoulfemme at Blacker Berry Tarot+Botanicals, cuddled with my cat, cooked a colorful but simple stew, listened to an herbalism podcast, read healing books, and cuddled with my cat some more.

I did what loved me back- a wonderful definition of self-care from Kyana Brindle who is included in this reading list.

I hope you find time for that space to do what loves you back.
