Interview w/ Noel Heimpel for Little Red Tarot

NOTE: List of Tarot of the QTPOC tarot decks can be found over here.

The Numinous Tarot being lovingly brought to the life by the talented Noel Arthur Heimpel is a forthcoming deck that does just this important work. Ask anyone who has ever talked tarot with me, and they’ll tell you that I’ve managed to sneak or outright shoehorn this luminous deck into conversation, someway somehow. Noel’s Numinous Tarot brilliantly tells our stories, including our identities without distilling us to just cleverly put together letters of the alphabet. I was honored to interview them and learn more about how they came to bless us with their work.

Go and read more about this very lovely deck from its very wise and wonderful creator at Little Red Tarot. There’s even an amazing Avatar: The Last Airbender reference!

a libra seeking balance

This may be why I avoid this deck sometimes. It has no chill.

My energy right now is Six of Cups in shadow. It’s directly correlating to a block I had about a relationship being opened to me.

What crosses me in this is my own mind. Over thinking things instead of looking to the abundance it offers me.

How does a libra proceed to be uplifted. Find balance. Duh. Of mind and heart,  as with The Chariot. As major arcana it indicates this energy being what I should move in this moon cycle.

God, this fucking deck.
(I do love it so)

California Love

I’m in Cali, doing some deep internal work. Pulled a spread to be aware of what I’m into for this experience.

1. What am I here for in this moment?
Ace of Fire  – Illumination: in this particular moment, for this journey I am in search of my fire, my wisdom, myself really. The figure in this image is lot from within and lighting outward into the world. Her eyes are far off, always seeking, but her truth is such that the search always leads back to herself where the truth always had been.

2. What are my challenges?
The Chariot – Athena: A balance of control. Athena as goddess of war and wisdom, holds both in balance. Unnecessary hostility, competition, etc has served me very little and lost me my insight. However, on the other hand, wisdom does not necessarily mean an inability to defend yourself. Be aware of myself in order to manifest boundaries as necessary but dismiss the unnecessary wars in my life, internal and external.

3. How to address those challenges?
Five of Earth – Manipulation: This was a bit difficult to parse, but the more I thought about it the more it came to me that self doubt is its own kind of manipulation – one manifested by both self and others. An inability to see ones own truth can impact how easily we are led to feel less than.

4. Clarification of card #3
Mother of Seas – Perception: I asked for clarification and it was basically this. Wise Mother Yemaya looks into her shell and sees the truth of self and others. Her perception is one of clarity and knowledge. And she likes what she sees! Do I? My reflection will never show true by other people’s measures and mirrors. It’s about time to look at myself and see me as I am, and smile with love and forgiveness as I begin to overcome the shade of others misconceptions of me. Only I can truly conceive of my highest good.

Giving thanks to the mothers, Orisha and ancestral for such an informed reading.

Deck Interview: In Love with the Mythical Goddess Tarot

The Mythical Goddess Tarot is my very first deck. I was immediately drawn to its emphasis on engaging the divine feminine as well as the beautiful art that I could see myself in. It’s a beautiful deck, I’m happy to be in conversation with it.

1.Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?
ACE OF SEAS (ECSTA-SEA) – concurrent with what I’ve felt from this deck and is why I always store this deck with rose quartz. She brings love, asks me to remember to move in love’s energy as I work with her. A reminder to maintain the work in my heart space that ensures I remain open and clear and full of light.

2. What are your strengths as a deck?
THE FOOL (UZUME) – her non-comformity and free flowing feminine spirit are her main attractions and strengths. She reminds me to approach my journey with her as an energetic dance of light and joy in order to encourage love in all aspects of my being.

3. What are your limits as a deck?
THREE OF FIRE (DELIGHT) – but the delight that comes from release of all the things I carry is a work I must do for myself. She can only give direction, I must walk the path to this freedom on my own.

4. What are you here to teach me?
FIVE OF WIND (FEAR) – the little white book says, “Name your fears and meet them…”. Love is strangled by fear; my challenge is release.

5. How can I best learn and collaborate with you?
CHARIOT (ATHENA) – to achieve the mastery evoked by Athena, a goddess of war and of wisdom, I must work in balance.

6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
FOUR OF FIRE (COMPLETION) – a promise that this work will allow the release of negativity, release of what no longer serves me in order to move into the next space of my journey.

I love this deck so much!
