First Quarter Moon in Cancer Reading

It’s been too long since I posted one of my personal readings on here. I need to get back to doing that more often. Hmmm, maybe one of the other things to release is the pressure to be constantly profound and thoughtful. Maybe I just wanna ramble! Come along for the ride would you?

Let’s begin again with my First Quarter Moon in Cancer quick reading.

My favorite part about this spread is how straightforward it is.

  1. RELEASE – TWO OF BLADES
  2. INVITE – MOTHER OF BLADES

I love how these two cards interact. In the Two of Blades the challenge is up close and personal- very much concerned with the here and now. The two swordspeople are focused on nothing else but each other- and honestly it seems a bit futile as they are evenly matched. I’ll be happy to release any tendency to get bogged down by the everyday little messes.

In comparison, the Mother of Blades, whose energy I’m asked to invite in, has the full perspective. It’s not about what’s right in front of her, she’s looking ahead to something so far off we can’t see it in the image. Unlike the sword, the arrow is a weapon that requires intense precision and focus. She’s wisened up enough to know that quite often, the everyday challenges really aren’t that big of a deal- some are just distractions that she’s long since learned to move past in favor of looking ahead to what matters.

Eyes on the prize always.
Just have to make sure what that prize is (otherwise what’s the point?!).

some time with the sea goat’s hermit moon

Blessings this New Moon in Capricorn!

New Moons for me have always been The Hermit’s domain. It’s the perfect time to seek out the shadow- not always for work, we need rest too. It is in the shadow that we learn to tend to our light and know better how to preserve it for ourselves and our community’s sustenance. With Mercury Rx in full force, the New Moon call for reflection only intensifies.

New Moon in Capricorn reading: Three of Wands, The Hermit, and Two of Swords from Tarot of Trees

This New Moon in Capricorn you and I are looking to ourselves.

This is the long filling inhale before the jump off the cliff into 2017. For so many this had been a solar turn of tumult and uncertainty. We’ve been pushed, pulled, killed, hurt, torn apart, and still we are here. You are here. And our ancestors passed on are here with us. The infinity of the cycle can feel overwhelming- and sometimes make it a burden to always strive for the long view.

The New Moon provides space to heal from overwhelm. She allows us to sit with ourselves, cradled in the warm tangible darkness of our shadow, and rest. We can always return here for our protection. This is the space that cannot be breached.

#taroteveryday: and sometimes the cards are very clear…

Get out of your own way.

We can be so focused on what everyone else is doing to us, we forget to check in with the fight within us that’s feeding those external forces. It may not be all in your head, just be honest when some of it is.

Libra tarotscopes are out!

Libra ‘scopes are posted at Siobhan’s Mirror and I was over the moon to complete Libra’s return for our birthday.

You are (trans)formed at the union of your light and shadow; to get to know both well and to keep both clear is the key to finding the balance that will free you to revel in your promised expansion.

Ceridwen’s Spread

I ran into the Ceridwen’s Cauldron spread from my Druid Oracles tarot app. I fell in love with its construction, based on the goddess’ Ceridwen’s brew, a mixture she prepared to imbue her son with inspiration. The Daughters of the Moon tarot book calls her Keeper of the Cauldron, calling us to be “wise in the use of [our] energy and [our] fire” mastered as she is in the energies of transformation.

Ceridwen by Christopher Williams (1910)

I love the weight of intention behind the spread, as the Druid Plant Oracle guidebook shares: “we can imagine her gathering the berries, roots, and leaves for this brew in accordance with the old moon and star lore, linking the movements of vast bodies in the heavens with the flow of sap in the roots of some of the smallest of plants on Earth.”

The spread itself is based on the ingredients in the brew- sea foam, rowan berries, lesser celandine, vervain, and wort- gathered in the shape of a cauldron. I tried it out here for some guidance in my healing work.

Tens Across the Board

There is very little that sends me running from my tarot spread like the Ten of Swords and the Ten of Wands. So imagine how I felt when I drew and got not one but both Tens.

card layout & order: (3. clarification) (1. one card draw) (2. clarification)

Unfortunately, I left the spread where it was without much meditation went about my day like it hadn’t happen. Just, nope! Not thinking about it. That was sometime last week. If there is one thing I’ve learned about Spirit is that what was meant to be said will be said again and again if the need is urgent enough. So looking to do a daily draw tonight, and purposely using the Mythical Goddess Tarot because I wanted a deck infused with love and clarity, I laid out my spread. Then I just had to laugh and go make some more chamomile-lavender tea because you know what, FML.

card order & layout: (3) (1) (2)

What I did appreciate was the difference in the tone of the message here. It was less “get your shit together as of yesterday!” and more “okay, so it’s a bit rough going but here’s the plan”. Which honestly, when you’re in a down sort of place, you’re more likely to listen to.

#1: What am I seeking/working towards?
Power – Lilith (4 – The Emperor) –
one of my birth cards

#2: What will I require to achieve this goal?
Balance (2 of Swords)

#3: What is blocking me right now from this path?
Self-Destruction (10 of Wands)

An understanding reading that also invites my own understanding. This I can deal with. One of these days I’ll go a whole month without pulling these two Tens for myself. One of these days. After a lot of work and healing. One of these days.
